My internship at Dublin Gazette

by Gazette Reporter

My name is Henry, I am 22 years old, and I am doing an apprenticeship as a bank clerk in Germany.

Therefore, I had the opportunity to participate in an internship abroad to gain more experiences.

My internship is organized by Erasmus+ and should help those who are interested in improving their English and to get to know Dublin better.

I was able to do many different and exciting tasks during my three-weeks internship at Dublin Gazette. As I have to deal with customers a lot in my job in Germany, my focus was also the customer service in Dublin.

Firstly, I created a Dublin Gazette questionnaire to get a good overview of our customers opinions about our services. I asked them what they currently like and where they see room for improvement in the future. I was very pleased with the positive feedback we received, and I was happy to see how many corporate customers we have at a time when advertising is moving more and more to social media.

Furthermore, I have dealt with the topic of social media, as this is an increasingly important point for our society. I had a very good exchange with our social media manager and compared how the sites are run in contrast to the German sites. It was interesting to see how complex this topic actually is and how many different facets one has to consider.

Another important task I had to deal with was proofreading. After our journalists had written their article, they gave it to my hands, and I was allowed to check it for mistakes and give possible suggestions.

In conclusion, I am blessed to have had the opportunity to do this internship. The colleagues were very welcoming, friendly as well as helpful and let me work independently. It was a great experience to get to know Dublin and my English has improved significantly. I would recommend to take this chance to everyone who gets the opportunity and definitely do it again in the future.

A big thank you to Liz for offering me such a great experience!
