Deputy Cian O’Callaghan recently flagged the lodgement of a planning application to An Bord Pleanála for 162 apartments beside the entrance to the grounds of Howth Castle.
The application he described on social media entailed 3 apartment blocks ranging in height from 5-6 storeys.
The proposal includes: 29 one beds; 104 two beds; 29 three beds; a resident services and amenity rooms in each block to accommodate co-working space, community room, etc. There will be 132 basement car parking spaces allocated, along with 325 basement bicycle parking spaces.
There is also a change of use re the adjoining section of the Deer Park Golf Course from active recreation use to passive amenity parkland and planting of a woodland belt on the southern boundary
The application has been made straight to An Bord Pleanála under the Strategic Housing Development legislation which bypasses the local Council. Further information is available at https://kenelmshdhowth.ie/
