A Dublin family say they are frustrated at the lack of information from Zurich police after their son, Lucky Ogbomor died in a suspected swimming accident.
Ogbomor, from Tyrrelstown in Dublin 15, had moved to the Swiss city from Ireland in January after securing a fitness modelling contract.
Last month, his body was recovered from the Limmat River just days after his 27th birthday. Police say he drowned while swimming.
But his family are demanding answers and say they have not had any detailed information from Zurich police.
They were told they would be hearing from them after an interpreter had been found. But there has been no contact so far.
Lucky’s father, Barry, says his son was found wearing only trunks – but his personal belongings have not been recovered. He says he must have left a bag somewhere with his wallet and phone.
He said: “The gardai told us that our son had drowned in a swimming accident, but we had so many questions that they could not answer.
“We’ve been in floods of tears ever since and can’t move on until we find out what exactly happened.”
Lucky’s body was returned to Ireland two weeks ago and an autopsy will take place at Dublin City Mortuary at his parents’ request.
The popular young Dubliner was a well-known YouTube personality and tributes were paid to him after his tragic death.
A group of friends have also set up a Go Fund Me online campaign to help his grieving parents with the cost of his funeral.
They wrote: “We are here as a group of Lucky’s friends and I’m sure everyone has a great story they could tell about him and the times he made us all smile.
“What I can tell you about Lucky is he was a man who enjoyed making other people happy and found happiness in others.”
The fund has a €10,000 target with more than half of that raised by friends and supporters so far.
