Mary King and family were horrified to wake up on June 3 last to realise their family home was on fire.
The Balbriggan family of six were lucky to escape uninjured as they fled their home in the early hours of the morning.
“Our home is destroyed and because we have no home insurance, we are trying to salvage what is left, which isn’t much,” said Mary. “My husband is 60% disabled and my daughter is about to sit her Leaving Cert. We have lived here for 26 years and all our children were brought up at this house.
“As you can imagine, it is a very difficult situation. We would appreciate any help no matter how small as almost everything has been lost.”
As such, Mary has set up a GoFundMe page to help rebuild and restore their family home. You can contribute at https://www.gofundme.com/f/family-support-after-home-destroyed-by-fire. Any support would be appreciated. To date, over €33,000 has been raised but it will cost well in excess of €50,000 to repair and refurbish the damaged house.
Mary and family thanked all who have helped to date. “All of the neighbours, the principal and staff of my children’s school Bremore ETSS, friends and even strangers! All of your support and effort has helped us a lot and has not gone unnoticed,” said Mary. “Even a donation of clothing, daily essentials, tools or physical help would make a huge difference.”
