A Harbour Water Safety Patrol Boat was unveiled in Dún Laoghaire last week and will operate between 2.0-8.0pm when the water is busiest, writes Amy Rohu.
Speaking about the launch Simon Coate, Harbour Master, Dún Laoghaire Harbour said:
“We love to see everyone out on the water enjoying all that the Harbour has to offer. We want to make sure that you are safe and look forward to welcoming you during the Summer months. We would like to remind people to check the weather forecast, wear safety gear, and always tell families or friends where you will be.”
The boat will assist with the collection of marine based litter from the Harbour waters as well as providing a safety and advisory reporting service on the waters within the harbour for kayakers and other water-based activities.
The service will be provided by the Dún Laoghaire Powerboat school on behalf of the council and will be dlr branded and fly a yellow flag. It will operate throughout the summer from June until August, weather permitting.
