D2D race Dun Laoghaire to Dingle bi annual race run by the National Yacht club

by Gazette Reporter

This was the first big sailing event in Ireland this year and the start date selected – June 9th turned out to be incredibly fortuitous, as it came just two days after new Covid19 guideline permitted such an event.

Though restricted to boats only from Ireland there was a final entry of 39 boats – including 6 NYC boats. It was a worthy 2021 curtain-raiser, being tough, fair and very fast.

The town of Dingle and event co-sponsor, the magnificent Dingle Skellig’s Hotel, where thrilled to have the event, which gave the whole town a lift and buzz to kick off their 2021 tourist season.
