Two men have been arrested after drugs worth over €2 million and €150,000 in cash was seized in Dublin last Monday.
The seizures were made after targeted searches of a number of vehicles by gardai in Tallaght and Dublin city centre.
Officers attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Special Crime Task Force carried out the sting as they zoned in on individuals suspected to be involved in organised crime.
The searches uncovered 110kg of suspected cannabis herb worth around €2.2 million, as well as the cash.
The two men arrested, one in his 50s, the other in his 30s, are currently being held at Tallaght Garda Station.
In a statement, a garda spokesperson said: “Personnel attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Special Crime Task Force carried out a search operation in the Tallaght and City Centre areas of Dublin on 24/05/2021. This operation was carried out as part of ongoing investigations targeting persons suspected to be involved in organised crime.
“A number of vehicles were stopped and searched in the areas as part of this operation. 110kg of Cannabis Herb (pending analysis) worth €2.2 million and approximately €150,000 in cash was discovered and seized by Gardaí,” they added.
Investigations are ongoing.
