A man in his 20s has died after getting into difficulty while swimming off the Dalkey coast in Dublin.
The incident happened on Thursday 3 June and the man later died in hospital.
A spokesperson for the Coast Guard said a member of the public called 999 and reported a swimmer in difficulty at the Vico Baths in Dalkey.
Coast Guard R116 helicopter, based in Dublin, and the RNLI Dún Laoghaire Lifeboat attended the scene. Gardaí and emergency services also attended the scene.
The man was winched from the water by the crew of the helicopter and transferred to Beaumont Hospital where he sadly passed away.
Gardaí are treating the case as a tragic accident.
