Dog Friendly Ireland Day took place on the 25th of June, a lovely Friday to celebrate and bring awareness to the need for a more pet friendly country, and extended to the whole weekend!
We, from Pet Friendly Dublin, are here to encourage businesses to open their doors and welcome the wagging tails! Afterwards, who doesn’t love dogs?!
We have partnered with DogsTrust Ireland to support the cause together. They provided most of the marketing material so pet friendly shops could participate with us.
Pet Friendly Dublin also created a fundraiser, where shops donated to support the cause, and individuals also helped and joined a raffle with vouchers and doggy goodies. We had more than 30 prizes donated for the raffle and almost 250 entries. Combining the amount at the fundraising and the cafe’s direct donations, we raised over €2000 raised in aid to Dogs Trust Ireland.
We had more than 30 bars and cafes from all parts of Co. Dublin and Bray City at Co. Wicklow joining the celebration this year. All of them had an important role, from spreading awareness, giving complimentary dog treats, puppuccinos and dog beer to making donations to dogs trust, and I have to give a big shout out to The Honey Truffle in Pearse Street (D2) for being our main supporter this year.
