Dublin City Council have launched their new ‘A Seat For You’ public seating in four locations across the city.

The picnic benches, which are covered by parasols, are open on Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 8pm at Dublin Castle, Mansion House, Capel St at the Parnell St/Ryders Row junction and Lower O’Connell St. The new seating areas will be initially open for a period of 4 weeks, and up to 30 people can be seated at any one time.

Public health guidelines will be in place, including social distancing and details will be taken for contact tracing. There is also no alcohol to be consumed at the sites.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative outside the Mansion House, the Lord Mayor Hazel Chu said: “I welcome the introduction of the four new seating areas in the city and am particularly happy to have one on the forecourt of the Mansion House. It is vitally important for older people and also families with children, to be able to sit down, relax and refresh during their visit to the city.”
