With applications closing this Friday, the Coca-Cola Thank You Fund are encouraging youth-focused groups in Dublin to put their ideas into action and apply for funding at coca-cola.ie/thankyou.
Now in its eleventh year, the Coca-Cola Thank You Fund will continue to support young people disproportionately impacted by the recent health crisis, with grants totalling €100,000 available to youth-orientated non-profit groups across the island of Ireland committed to protecting the future of a post pandemic generation.
Local groups Enactus, Akina Dada Wa Afrika, and Dublin City Farm and Ecology Centre were Coca-Cola Thank You Fund recipients in 2020. Enactus are dedicated to developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators. Enactus received funding to create the ‘Live Like Never Before Project’ which challenged third level students to develop social entrepreneurial projects to promote healthy, positive well-being among young vulnerable people in their local community.
National network of migrant women, Akina Dada Wa Afrika (AkiDwA) (Sister from Africa), used the funding to run the AkiDwA’s Young Migrant Women (YMW) Project. Targeting young migrant women between the ages of 18-25, the project provided a safe space for sharing experiences and support though projects which directly target their unique socio-cultural needs especially in the light of Covid 19.
Dublin City Farm and Ecology Centre encourages youth participation and provides a safe, relaxed environment for young people during the pandemic. Their funding went towards the running of skills-based, sustainability projects on the farm to empower and educate the current volunteer team – and recruit vulnerable young people from the community to get involved.
Assessed under the categories of education and training, diversity, and inclusion in young people and those that take an innovative approach to demonstrating sustainability, leaders of the shortlisted projects will also be invited to attend a special skills and networking workshop, empowering them with top tips on how to pitch their project and apply for funding, before presenting their ideas to a panel of judges.
This year will also see a return of the ‘People’s Choice Award,’ with members of the public invited to vote for their favourite project amongst the final shortlisted organisations, with successful 2021 Coca-Cola Thank You Fund recipients to be announced in the autumn.
