Influencer Charleen Murphy has helped to raise much needed funds for those experiencing homelessness this Christmas with an online auction.

The Dubliner auctioned off a designer handbag on her social media to raise funds for Depaul.

The appeal garnered over 800 donations online and exceeded its initial fundraising target of €3,000, raising €5,000 for the charity, which helps those who are experiencing homelessness.

Speaking about the fundraiser, Charleen said: “I was blown away by the reaction to my bag appeal. Having a home and having somewhere to stay, particularly over the Christmas period, is something we can all take for granted.

“I want to use my platform in a really positive way and highlight issues that I feel are important. Homelessness continues to be a really big issue in Ireland and I feel everybody can play their part in supporting vulnerable people.”

Depaul currently provide over 550 beds each night for those experiencing homelessness across Ireland. Last year the charity supported over 4,500 men, women and children through a range of accommodation and community based services.
