After two hugely successful events in 2021 and 2022, the Dublin 8 Mega Yard Sale is back, writes Rose Barrett.
The Players Please D8 Residents Association sale is a clutter-clearing community extravaganza taking place on Sunday, July 2 from 11am-3pm. Over 100 stalls participated in 2022, with sign-ups already reporting to be brisk.
Joe Clarke of Players Please D8 said “We are aiming for the 2023 Yard Sale to be the biggest yet. Signing up is free and stall holders can keep the money raised for themselves but we are asking that they donate a portion of it to our campaign via our Go Fund Me page. See https://www.gofundme.com/en-gb/f/players-please-a-neighbourhood-fund.”
He stated this was a perfect opportunity for everyone in D8 to clear out and sell unwanted items, thereby raising money for themselves and the Players Please residents campaign.

Residents are encouraged to set up a stall outside their house or on their street corner to sell unwanted goods, as well as crafts and home baking. Stalls can be registered at www.playerspleasedublin.com and each stallholder will be placed on an event map and given a stall number and competition entry. There will be many prizes including the most imaginative stall name, best fancy dress and best overall stall.
Players Please D8 Residents Association was established by a group of people passionate about seeing the John Player site developed as soon as possible with homes. The group has campaigned via public meetings, observations and a current Judicial Review to ensure that the site is developed with community involvement. Funds raised will go towards the ongoing legal fees.
