The Mayor of Fingal, Howard Mahony and Jack Chambers, TD Minister of State for Sport and the Gaeltacht cut the ribbon across the redesigned lake and 18th green of Westmanstown Golf Course

Westmanstown Golf Course located in Dublin 15 originally was designed by Eddie Hackett in 1988 on just 54 acres. By 1991 an additional 47 acres was purchased and an 18 hole course was created, stretching the course to a par 71 just under 6,500 yards. The 18th hole has been re-developed making the hole a risk reward par four where the water penalty has significantly increased in front of a tight narrow green.

This project was made possible with the assistance of a Sports Capital Grant of €50,000 from the Department of Tourism, Transport & Sport, which was granted to Westmanstown Golf Club following a rigorous application process in 2021.

Course Convenor, Martin Carroll said “ We are delighted with the redesign of the 18th hole, the entire project is an example of future strategic projects which will bring modern golf course design to a classic golf course layout at Westmanstown. Prudent management of resources together with the assistance of the Sports Capital Program has facilitated this and other developments. We plan to develop the golf course further to provide a more attractive product for our members and surrounding communities.”
