Swords Meals on Wheels have acknowledged a great contribution from Swords Manor Residents Association, writes Rose Barrett.

An incredible donation of €2,220 was recently presented to the local Meals on Wheels services.

“We would like to thank all the committee members and all those who participated and made the quiz night such an amazing success,” said a spokesperson for the meals service.

“To all the teams, all the various groups around Swords that came out to support this event; to Colmcille’s GAA Club and all the other individuals involved. Also to Tony Ridgewood who must be the best quiz master in the country!

“Swords Meals on Wheels are currently delivering over 95 meals every day in the greater Swords area to all those who need the dinners, for whatever reason at no charge. And this generous donation will allow us to continue. Thank you from all the volunteers with Swords Meals on Wheels. Much appreciated.”

Cllr Ann Graves stated she was so proud to be part of the SMRA group. She also added thanks to St Colmcilles GFC and to Marian who pulled out all the stops!

“Great support too from the Swords Women’s Shed, Swords Tidy Towns, Swords Gardaí and many other groups, individuals and sponsors who contributed so many prizes for the quiz and draw including Paul Barnes FCC who donated concert tickets.

“It was great to have Paul Mc Cormack, Swords Meals on Wheels Chair to say a few words and acknowledge the hard work done by Joan and Niall Mac Neill and so many other volunteers – all  our local heroes! “ she concluded.
