Three males charged re endangerment of gardaí in Cherry Orchard last month

Yesterday, Monday October 3 saw three men charged in relation to the endangerment of gardaí and related incidents in the Cherry Orchard area on September 19 last.

Three of the male juveniles were charged and are due to appear before Dublin Children’s Court, Court number 55 today, Tuesday October 4.  

The fourth male juvenile has been referred to the Juvenile Youth Diversion Programme, in accordance with the Children’s Act, 2001.

The incident which occurred on Monday, September 19, entailed youth driving stolen cars in the Cherry Orchard area. Shortly after 7.30pm, gardaí responded to reports of dangerous driving.

After failing to stop, the stolen cars were then driven at a garda vehicle. The ramming of the garda car was then shared on social media, with youth cheering the drivers on.

The endangerment to gardaí along with the fear that many local residents live with was largely condemned from all sectors. Cllr Daithí Doolan stated the stolen cars were then driven recklessly on the road and later burn out in a local park. See full story here:
