400 people attended the glamourous Spring Lunch in aid of Spinal Injuries Ireland on Saturday 25th March at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dublin 4.

The event is organised by SII’s Philip Quinlan and his committee including Professor Caitriona Ryan, Emmet Kilduff, Fiona McGouran, Una Kearns & Lizzie Burke.

The title sponsor for the event is the Institute of Education amongst many auction & raffle sponsors. After lunch there was silence as Declan Naughton told his own personal story of how he sustained a spinal cord injury in 2018 and how SII peer support programme assisted him.

Amongst the 400 people enjoying the event were Sarah Lipsett, Robert Hoban, Eimear Smith, Consultant at the NRH, Janice Walshe, Consultant at St Vincent’s Hospital, and model Gail Kaneswaran.

The auction completed the lunch which was followed by the band Spring Break which saw all the attendees take to the dance floor!

CEO, Fiona Bolger stated: ‘The Spring Lunch is the largest annual event for Spinal Injuries Ireland. Every year we must fundraise to cover 70% of the cost of our services and we very much appreciate the support of our loyal supporters, sponsors and donors who attend and contribute to this event’

SII is Ireland’s only one-to-one support service for people with a Spinal Cord Injury, providing a range of evidence-based services and resources to help people and their families adapt to life after the devastation of a SCI. The assistance provided to each service user is specific to the needs of the person and their families. These services include one-to one support from the Community Outreach Team, access to the trained peer volunteer programme, counselling, and a comprehensive educational programme.
