Need an uplifting night’s entertainment to give you a boost? Fancy a night out with the girls or pals that is guaranteed to have your toes tapping and hands clapping? Well, “Are ya dancing? – a showband show” will run for three nights only at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght. That’s Thursday July 13, Friday 14 and Saturday 15.
And it’s one mighty entertaining show! Brimming with classic showband songs – “The Hucklebuck”, “Rock Around the Clock” and “From the Candystore On the Corner, it features an impressive thirty-piece cast and features a live showband! It received rave reviews when staged across Leinster pre-Covid.
You will want to get up and dance to the big numbers – but it’s not just big numbers, it’s big hair, big skirts – rockabilly all the way with the lads in tight pants, tank tops and skinny ties!!


The drama is set in Donegal in the 1960’s golden era of music/show biz. The story follows the unassuming Tommy O’Neill, a young man who finds himself at the helm of an up-and-coming showband. Get ready to join him on his journey and relive the magic of the past through a host of memorable characters.
Starring Sean Mac Mathúma in the lead role with Helen Spring, Kevin Reade, Carol Gleeson, Bronwyn Andrews, Paul Mescal snr, (Dad of award winning actor Paul jnr) and Daniel Ryan, this is just a super powerful uplifting presentation!
Under the creative guidance of renowned director Michael Scott, this musical play is revamped and ready to ready to rock. Written and directed by A Likely Story Productions co-founders Carol Gleeson and Helen Spring from just down the road in Co Kildare, the show continues its hugely successful run having wowed audiences throughout the country pre-Covid. Also featuring Hugh Gallagher, Laura Gleeson, Rory Dignam, Helena Begley and Rory Chadwick.
