Fingal County Council would like to remind dog walkers that dogs must be under effectual control at all times and this is particularly important when near livestock.

Following an attack on sheep near Turvey Nature Reserve close to Donabate, the local authority stated: “Dogs behave differently and can be particularly hard to control near livestock. Therefore, they should be on a lead in areas such as the Turvey Nature Reserve or near the goats in Howth as stated on signage in place at these locations.”

Dog owners/walkers should familiarise themselves with the park bye laws to ensure that they do not breach same – for further information see
