With a theme of ‘Classic Elegance with a Hint of Blue’, the Barberstown Castle Sapphire Style Awards will take place tomorrow at the Curragh Racecourse.
This year’s Sapphire style prize consists of a €5,000 cash prize and a two night stay at Barberstown Castle with dinner. The lucky winner will also be flown by helicopter from Barberstown Castle to The Curragh Racecourse on October 7 for a VIP day at the races which includes a table for two in the fabulous panoramic St Leger restaurant. Style judges.
TV presenter Brian Dowling and his husband Arthur Gourounlian of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ fame will be joined by Barberstown Castle’s Amanda Torrens and Katie Robinson on the judging panel.
The running order for the style awards is as follows:
11:00: Gates open & style spotting commences, look out for the Barberstown Castle style spotters and judges who will be roaming.
13.40: Judging panel meet to choose finalists.
14.00: Entrants gather in the Barberstown Marquee at 2pm
14:15: Judges come to Barberstown Marquee & finalists called to the stage.
14:30: Winner announced. The Style Marquee will be located on the lawn in front of the Members Bar
Juddmonte Irish Oaks Weekend kicks off on Saturday July 22 with a fabulous 8-race card including theGroup 1 Juddmonte Irish Oaks, Group 2 Barberstown Castle Sapphire Stakes and Group 2 Comer Group International Curragh Cup. The Barberstown Castle Sapphire Style Awards will take place off the track, more on that below.
Sunday 23 is a family race day with free children’s entertainment in the Moyglare KidsZone. The feature races on the day are the Group 2 Romanised Minstrel Stakes and Group 3 Michael John Kennedy Memorial Stakes.
Gates will open at 11am on Saturday morning with the first race off at 1.30pm. On Sunday, gates will open at 11:30am with the first race at 2pm.
The Moyglare Kids Zone will be open on both days with free activities including face painting and imagination Station. Magic shows will place on the Sunday.
