As part of National Play Day, South Dublin County Council hosted a Free Play Day last week at the new natural playground in Tymon Park.
The event coincided with the official opening of the playground by the newly-elected Mayor Cllr Paul Gogarty. The aim of the Play Day event is to help increase public awareness of the importance of play in supporting children’s physical and social development.
The focus for South Dublin’s Play Day event was on natural play, imaginative play and getting children moving through play.
Minister Katherine Zappone also attended the event and said it was fantastic to see Tymon Park Playground open and being enjoyed on National Play Day. She pointed to the importance of playgrounds such as Tymon for the Health and wellbeing of children and families.
