Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has unveiled the Draft Dundrum Local Area Plan, aiming to deliver on the ten-minute neighborhood concept, writes Rachel Cunningham.

The plan covers an area that includes Dundrum’s town centre, Airfield urban farm, the former Central Mental Hospital site, and Dundrum Business Park.

The plan’s vision also includes providing community, civic, and cultural facilities, a mix of homes, while also respecting the existing character, scale and heritage of Dundrum.

“I urge members of the public, particularly those living within the Local Area Plan boundary, to make a submission and make sure their views feed into the important democratic Local Area Plan making process,” said Councillor Mary Hanafin, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.

A central aspect of the plan is managing the future population increase through sustainable transport means like cycling, walking and public transport.

The draft plan is available online or can be viewed in all dlr libraries and council offices in Dundrum and Dun Laoghaire until July 21.
