Saturday week (March 18) will see the McLoughlin family organise a fundraiser and raffle in memory of their beloved Philip aka ‘Phil’.

Sisters Pamela and Louise McLoughlin along with Jacqueline Sheehy (Community Health Co Ordinator for South Dublin County Partnership) are organising a 5k walk, run or jog on that darte, with all funds in aid of CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).

Supported by the extended family, the late Phil’s parents Theresa and Noel will be there, along with his siblings Pamela, Louise and Andrew.

“Phil was 39 when he died following a sudden cardiac arrest in November 2021,” said Pamela. “He was working in the air conditioning industry, and living in Australia with his wife Caroline and their son Fraser who was only six months old at the time.

“We are delighted to say that Caroline and Fraser will be home from Melbourne for the event on Saturday, March 18.

“The community response so far has been wonderful. Local businesses have gifted spot prizes for the raffle, we are just so grateful to them all.

“Nearly 120  people have registered for the run/walk already so we are really pleased!  We will host the raffle on the day, we will have music, goody bags and medals for the first 200 participants.”

All monies raised will go to CRY, an organisation founded in March 2002 by parents who had experienced the effects of sudden and unexplained death within their family circle. It is a self-supporting charity which does not receive government funding of any kind.

Donations go towards CRY providing access to free clinical assessment and management to persons/families at risk of Sudden Cardiac Death.

CRY’s Family Support Programme offers free access to bereavement specialist, mentors, etc and they also fundraise to support research into the causes and prevention of SCD.
