Yet another ‘sinister’ incident occurred recently in Swords, this time outside St Cronan’s National School, writes Rose Barrett.

A parent reported that on November 5 last, her son had forgotten his bag and was looking for it outside the junior school gates, when a man tried to grab his arm. Described as having ‘sallow skin, mid-late twenties, with red check shirt, black jacket, blue jeans and black ankle boot trainers and floppy hair style’, the boy evaded the man and ran towards his mother.

“He was pretty shook up,” said the mother who sent the boy back into the school and approached the man. “He swerved away from me and approached another older man who was out walking, holding his hand out as if he knew him. The older man did not know him at all.” The woman called the local gardaí and tried to question the man who later ran away up Cronan’s Road, then towards Glamore before they lost sight of him.

Gardaí were unable to attend but the mother of this boy warned that two of her neighbours have had similar situations recently, along with there having been several recent unprovoked attacks in the area.

“If anyone thinks this could be someone they know and that it was not a sinister incident it would give us a lot of peace of mind but I feel people should be aware.” Message Swords Neighbourhood and Friends FB page if you have any relevant information.
