Recently, at least two ‘lewd’ incidents occurred in the Swords area and were widely reported on community social media, writes Rose Barrett.
Gardaí confirmed they attended an alleged incident of indecency that took place in Jacko Park, Swords, at approximately 7:25am on March 18 last.
This was the second such incident reported in recent weeks. A local woman claimed that, between 7.15 and 7.25am on Friday last, she witnessed a Caucasian male with grey tracksuit bottoms and a blue/navy jacket “at play with himself in the trees between the dog cage and the path on River Valley Rise towards the GAA pitches.”
Gardaí arrived within minutes of the reported sighting and local community groups praised the gardaí for their quick response.
However, the caller reported “The man fled as soon as he saw gardaí approaching.”
Gardaí have asked anyone to report similar incidents and particularly asked “that all users of the park, particularly females no matter what age – when walking alone, to take great care.”
No arrests have been made at this time and investigations are ongoing.
