Over 30 dogs that are believed to have been stolen were seized by An Garda Siochana in Swords following a search last Saturday.

Gardai had received a call in relation to ‘unusual activity’ at Stockhole, Cloghran in Swords, and following further enquires sought a search warrant for the premises.

The search was executed by a number of Gardai from Swords and Malahide Garda Stations at approximately 1pm on August 22, with two dog wardens also assisting Gardai in the search.

In total, 32 dogs were seized from the property, with the monetary value of the dogs believed to be in excess of €120,000, as verified by the dog wardens. Among the dogs seized were a Jack Russell, four pugs, three chihuahuas and 24 dachshunds.

All the dogs were removed to Ashtown Pound, where they are currently being cared for. The owners of the dogs are due to be verified via their microchips, where further enquiries will be carried out.
