A devastated dog owner is appealing for help from the public to find a beloved family pet, a Schnauzer reputedly stolen from a car following a motor incident in Corduff 10 days ago.

On Tuesday, September 13 last, the owner, a woman who wishes to remain anonymous, was travelling with her two dogs when she was involved in a traffic accident at the Corduff main lights across from Warrenstown Lawn in Blanchardstown.

The incident occurred circa 6pm. An eye-witness with paramedic training attended the scene and found the dog owner lying beside the car on the driver’s side. One of the terrified dogs fled the scene but thankfully was later located.

“However, the second dog, a seven-year-old Schnauzer was reputedly taken from the scene and has not been returned. I am assisting the owner in locating the dog,” said Lisa O’Connor of Missing Stolen Animals (FB).

“This witness said as she was checking the dog owner was okay, she looked up and saw a woman lean into the car and take the dog on a lead.

“It all happened so quickly but the woman said she would mind the dog. In all of the chaos, it wasn’t noticed until later that this woman had actually taken the dog from the scene.” It now seems this woman callously stole the dog, taking advantage of the owner’s vulnerability.

The photograph here shows the woman who allegedly took the family pet. She is described as being white, Irish, aged 28 – 35 years with dark hair. Lisa noted: ” This beloved family pet is a seven-year-0ld female Schnauzer, is microchipped and spayed so therefore, no use for breeding. ”

It is now officially flagged as stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station at 01 666 7000 or 085 734 3428.
