On Thursday last, the Saggart School House Community Centre officially opened its doors following extensive refurbishment.

The transformation of the historic St. Mary’s National School, which operated from 1937 until 2014, into a modern community centre represents a significant achievement for the Saggart Village Residents Association, dedicated volunteers, South Dublin County Council, and Dublin Rural Leader.

Minister of State for Business, Employment & Retail and local Fine Gael TD Emer Higgins commented on the occasion, saying: “The opening of the Saggart School House Community Centre is a proud moment for the residents of Saggart. It’s fantastic to see a building that is so rich in history transformed to meet the present day needs of a thriving community.”

Local Election Candidate Cllr. Shirley O’Hara also commented: “This new community space is a testament to the hard work of those who made this transformation possible. It is a welcome addition and will undoubtedly become a central location for community activities, building connections and supporting local growth.”
