[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Rush teenager Niall Gosson has been named as the first ever student ambassador for the international Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards.
Niall was one of 20 young people nationwide to be recognised for his contribution to community life in the 2018 awards, winning €1,000 for the charity of his choice and an all-expenses paid trip to Washington DC.
Last week he visited Pramerica’s Irish head office in Letterkenny, Co Donegal where he was asked to take up the role of ambassador.
A delighted Niall told Dublin Gazette: “My role is to try and promote the awards and to get schools and individuals to nominate a young volunteer in their school or community so as many young volunteers can have their extraordinary work acknowledged.”
Pramerica is part of Prudential USA which was founded to provide insurance for the less well off in America.
The sole purpose of the awards, now in their thirteenth year, is to acknowledge outstanding voluntary work.
Niall, who is a former student of St Joseph’s Secondary School, volunteers with Rush Tourism and worked with Fingal County Council to achieve a coastal heritage trail and a Kenure House Demesne heritage trail in Rush.
He also helps out with the local park run and Rush Scouts where he is a rover leader.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
