‘The Reaper’ will be coming to try and take Thomas Carty’s zero in Dublin next week.
It has yet to be officially confirmed by the Dublin big man has agreed to fight Bradford bruiser Dan ‘The Reaper’ Garber on the undercard of Katie Taylor’s rematch with Chantelle Cameron at the 3Arena on Thursday.
Carty got the party started back in May at the same venue when he stopped Scottish rival Jay McFarlane to win the BUI Celtic heavyweight title and Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn will be hoping for a similar atmosphere when the Phibsboro man returns in just under two week’s time.
It remains unclear if Carty’s BUI Celtic title will be on the line, but the Bradford native has Mayo heritage and thus qualifies to fight for the strap.
It understood a number of fighters from Celtic nations were offered the chance to challenge the unbeaten Dub for the strap but shied away, and thus Garber got the call
Celtic Warrior Gym fighter Carty will be favoured heading into the fight but the 6’5 puncher has the ability to test the Dillian Whyte-managed southpaw.
Garber comes into the fight on the back of his most impressive display, a first-round stoppage of unbeaten Indian Nishant Sharma in June.
He is also the first southpaw fellow lefty Carty faces since turning pro and his sole career defeat came in a four-round fight where he suffered a costly points deduction.
With that in mind Carty, who was the biggest winner on the last Matchroom Dazn card to come to Dublin, has the chance to make some serious noise again.
Olympian Emmet Brennan also appears on the undercard in a very interesting all-Irish fight with Jamie Morrissey.
The Dublin Dockland’s graduate is adamant he is coming to secure a knockout win and has warned people it’s a fight they shouldn’t miss.
Liam Gaynor completes the Dublin interest on the massive bill as he fights John Cooney of Galway in another mouthwatering domestic pairing.
The Kilnamanagh fighter will be looking to make it third time lucky in domestic title fights as he trades leather for the BUI Celtic super featherweight title.
