On Monday, February 28, Quarryvale Family Resource Centre will be hosting safeTALK, a three and a half hour ‘suicide alertness’ programme that prepares participants, aged over 18 years, to identify and engage with persons who may be having thoughts of suicide, writes Rachel Cunningham.

Participants learn how to provide practical help by using the steps of TALK (tell, ask, listen and keep safe) and also gain information on the supports and resources available locally, regionally and nationally. These specific skills are called ‘suicide alertness’ and are taught with the expectation that the persons learning them will use them to help reduce suicide risk in their community.

The talk will take place between 5.45 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. and will be delivered in Quarryvale FRC @QCYC, Greenfort Gardens. This free training is open to all adults living and working in North Clondalkin.
