TALLAGHT residents are being encouraged to have their say on a blueprint for development shaping the future of the town centre.
The Tallaght Town Centre Local Area Plan (LAP) will govern key planning decisions for the village, The Square Shopping Centre, Sean Walsh Memorial Park, Cookstown industrial area, South City business park, IT Tallaght, Belgard Road and Airton Road.
The LAP will consider transport and access, the quality of the public spaces in the town centre, the design of future buildings and what type of development should be encouraged.
South Dublin County Council is undertaking four pre-draft consultation sessions – with the final two being held next Monday, July 17, (1-4pm) and Tuesday, July 18 (4-7.30pm) at the county library.
Locals have until 4pm on August 11 to make submissions and put their ideas forward.
People all across the area are urged to contribute their thoughts to help guide planning across the area.
The draft plan will then be drawn up and accompanied by an environmental report.
More information on how to contribute to the pre-draft consultation is available at Tallaght Library, Castletymon Library or County Hall, Tallaght.

Staff from South Dublin County Council will be on hand to answer general queries and address concerns every Wednesday afternoon between 2-4pm at County Hall.
The last LAP was adopted in 2006 and extended in 2011.
The new plan will take into account the changing economic and social landscape shaping the south Dublin town.
For further details, an information leaflet is available on the council’s website at
Submissions can also be filled in online at, or by post to the senior executive officer, Forward Planning Section, Land Use Planning and Transportation Department, South Dublin County Council, County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin 24.
