Irish printmakers JANDO have launched a brand-new studio and showroom at Dublin’s Chocolate Factory, which will open to the public for the first time on July 9, from 11am-4pm.
The printmakers have been capturing iconic Dublin and Irish architecture with their signature pop-art style since 2015 and amassed an impressive following across the globe, with over 70 stockists worldwide.
What started out as a passion project quickly turned into a successful business venture when Julie brought some of Owen’s screen-prints to a retailer who wanted to stock the entire collection immediately.
Specialising in colourful, architectural themed prints, JANDO uses a combination of both traditional and modern printmaking techniques, including screen printing and hand drawn illustrations, to create their iconic art pieces.
Julie and Owen McLoughlin, the husband-and-wife duo behind the brand whose first names collectively created the brandname ‘JANDO’, were forced to pivot when the pandemic hit. With stockists closed, they relied on online sales for two years.
The opening of this newly refreshed space, which has been designed by the founders, marks an exciting new chapter for JANDO. They sought to create a bright and welcoming space that encapsulates their brand, including vibrant colour-pop accents that complement the existing charm of the building.
The showroom is open to the public Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm, by appointment only. From Saturday, July 9, customers can also enjoy a ‘Showroom Open Day’ one Saturday per month, where shoppers and collectors are free to pop in and meet the makers or to pick up some JANDO goodies, exclusive to the showroom.
Speaking about the launch, founder Julie McLoughlin described it as a chance “to meet our customers again, something we really missed during Covid”.
“Over the next year we will be opening up the studio even more with some very special events and can’t wait to share these plans with our community”, she added.
