On March 16, Patty Brady was presented with the Peter Brady Memorial Cup by Sean and Vivienne Ralph of Diamond & Gem Jewellers, a new prize for best in the Lucan St. Patrick’s Day parade, which was presented by Patty Brady to the category winner, writes Rachel Cunningham.

This perpetual trophy is in honour of Peter Brady, a founding member of the local parade, who died in November 2021. “Peter loved the parade, he was on the phone to me the first week in September every year, asking ‘are you ready to get going’. He was a great community man and loved helping everyone he met with a smile and a ‘no problem’. He is sadly missed, but never forgotten”, said Barbara Cummins.

Mary Meehan said: “This is our 30th parade and 32 years since we had our first meeting and we couldn’t let this year pass without remembering Peter. We also wanted to create a perpetual trophy so that he will be included and remembered at every parade in the future”.
