A new €16 million Penneys store at Dundrum Town Centre has topped off a busy few months of new openings across Hammerson’s portfolio today (22nd June).

The new opening further reflects Hammerson’s focus on enlivening and reinvigorating its destinations through new occupiers, concepts and brands. It also underpins the wider Hammerson strategy to create exceptional destinations to drive value for its stakeholders, connect to its communities, and deliver a positive impact for generations to come.

Penneys, the much-loved Irish retailer, has opened a new 80,000 sq ft store increasing its retail space by 64% as part of an extensive upsize and relocation in Dundrum Town Centre.

Located on level two and three of Dundrum Town Centre, the increased floor space will allow a much wider selection of fashion and products across women’s, men’s and kids’ wear as well as its popular beauty and expanded homeware departments.

Penneys is the latest in a series of new concepts and brand openings across Hammerson’s destinations, which has also included Nike Live at Dundrum Town Centre.  ‘Nike by Dundrum’ sees the world’s largest sportswear brand open its first ‘Nike Live’ concept in Ireland, occupying the former BT2 space on Level 1.  The concept is designed to serve all members and connect the fitness community to the city, with a rich programme of in-store experiences and tailored offerings, including a curated assortment of sport performance apparel, footwear, and accessories.

Connor Owens, Managing Director, Asset Management (Ireland & Scotland), Hammerson, Co-owners and Asset Managers of Dundrum Town Centre, said: “We are passionate about creating best-in-class customer experiences at our vibrant destinations and these openings in Dundrum are testament to the appeal of our assets to global brands. We are well positioned to benefit from this ‘flight to quality’ and continue to provide further value to our occupiers through innovative events and activations which engage new audiences.  Our brand and customers can expect more exceptional concepts and experiences in 2023.”

Dundrum Town Centre remains Ireland’s premier retail and leisure destination and continues to go from strength to strength, with Brown Thomas, Donnybrook Fair, Watches of Switzerland and Lush also opening new stores over the last 18 months.

As Ireland’s largest retail and leisure destination, Dundrum Town Centre has an extensive and impressive line-up of household retail brands, innovative leisure concepts and restaurant and dining options serving international cuisine. These are complemented by a cultural events programme throughout the year maximising Dundrum’s indoor and outdoor space.
