Gardai appeal for witnesses following serious collision on North Wall Quay

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a collision between a car and a bike on North Wall Quay, that has left a cyclist in a serious condition in hospital.

A male cyclist in his 20s was seriously injured after being struck by a car on North Wall Quay, and was taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The car involved in the incident was driven away from the scene, and was later recovered by Gardai at Castleforbes Square a short time later after being abandoned by the driver.

The scene at North Wall Quay was examined by garda forensic collision investigators, but no arrests have yet been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, in particular anyone who was in the area of the North Wall Quay, North Wall Avenue, East Wall Road, Sheriff Street Upper, Castleforbes Road or Castleforbes Square between 10.15pm and 10.30pm yesterday (August 31), to come forward.

They are also appealing to anyone with dash cam footage to provide same to Gardai. Anyone with information can contact the incident room at Store Street Garda station on 01 666 8000, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
