“Its a good day” as Taoiseach announces lifting of restrictions

Taoiseach Micheál Martin addressed the nation at 6pm and confirmed the lifting of nearly all restrictions from Saturday 22nd January at 6am.

Mr Martin reported that Ireland has weathered the Omicron storm, “Therefore, from 6am tomorrow morning, the majority of public health measures will be removed.”

  • Restrictions on hospitality to be lifted
  • Re-opening of Nightclubs with table service been no longer necessary
  • Back to Work on a phased basis
  • No number limit on events – (Sport, Wedding, Events)
  • No number restrictions to household guests
  • No Charges to international Travel Rules (Covid Passes still required)
  • Current measures for schools to continue
  • Face Masks still a requirement where needed
  • Pandemic Unemployment Sheme to close moving over to Jobseekers rate
