Met Eireann has issued a warning for heavy thundery showers for Dublin and other counties for the next 24-hours following last week’s heatwave.
The meteorological service has said that the areas most at risk are Leinster and East Munster.
A cold front will cross the country on Monday afternoon and bring widespread heavy and possibly thundery showers with a risk of spot flooding in some parts.
Met Eireann has said: “Downpours will result in hazardous driving conditions and may lead to spot flooding. The areas most at risk are Leinster and East Munster on later Monday afternoon and evening. Heavy showers with the risk of thunderstorms will continue through Tuesday and Wednesday.”
The warning is valid from midday on Monday, July 26 until 5am on Tuesday, July 27.
Tonight will see a few isolated heavy showers which will eventually give way to largely dry conditions and clear spells.
This week the nights are set to be cooler compared to last week with the lowest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees expected.
Met Eireann has said: “Some dry and clear spells will develop in the west and midlands but further scattered showers will move in from the Atlantic during the night. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in a light to moderate northwest breeze.”
According to the meteorologist service, Wednesday will see sunshine and widespread showers, some Sunshine and some heavy with localised thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in blustery westerly winds.
It will be another fresh and showery day on Thursday with bright spells and showers, the showers heavy in places with a risk of lightning. Maximum temperatures ranging 15 to 19 degrees.
Good sunny spells on Friday but with scattered showers spreading from the northwest during the day. Top temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in fresh westerly winds.
