Locals were left reeling from news of two shocking mugging incidents in Clondalkin on Friday night.

The first incident occurred in the Oakwood area on Friday evening when a pizza delivery driver had cash robbed at knifepoint. The driver was not injured in the incident.

Later the same evening, a woman was approached by a young man outside the Mill Park apartments.

The man attempted to steal the woman’s bag.

The woman fought back and the man stabbed her several times in the hand and leg before giving up and leaving the scene without the bag.

The woman was taken to Tallaght Hospital and treated for her injuries which were not life-threatening.

CCTV footage emerged of the terrifying attack and locals took to social media to express their horror at the incident.

Writing on the Clondalkin Neighbourhood Watch Facebook page, one resident said: “What’s the world coming to?

“My daughter’s travelling and coming home next week and I dread her safety with all the lunatics.”

Another added: “I’ve wife and kids in this village. This cowardly b*****d need to be caught ASAP.”

One woman said she was frightened after hearing about the incident and said she “wouldn’t even think of walking on my own somewhere at night anymore”. Others wished the victim of the attack a speedy recovery.
