Ireland is hosting a day of appreciation for security personnel for the first time ever. Security company ‘Manguard Plus’, Ireland’s leading privately owned Irish owned security company is sponsoring the event which is part of the ‘International Security Officers Day’, to fall on Monday next, July 24.

This day of celebration for security officers across the world is firmly embedded in countries in the southern hemisphere.

MD of Manguard Plus, Sean Hall says: “In the main, Security Officers do not get the recognition they deserve.

“We all go to concerts, events and conferences. We visit buildings and corporate headquarters; we travel from airports, ports, train stations and at all these venues and events, there is a team of highly skilled, trained and professional people who work tirelessly to ensure the public is kept safe.

“Their work hours are long, and the work is demanding and they do it all with good humour and a very special skill set. We believe it is time these people are recognised for their incredibly hard work and dedication across the private and public sectors.”

“Security is now a very attractive career with lots of opportunities for professional advancement. It is fast faced and hugely diverse and well-trained security officers can progress their careers steadily”.

Dubliner Leslie Graham is a Security Officer with Manguard Plus where he is Security Supervisor for the past seven years at a modern mixed use development in the city centre.

“This is great for our sector and for the staff as everybody wants some bit of recognition for a job well done,” said Leslie. “Security offices work all hours, in all weathers, in all sorts of environments and they do so in the main without ever being thanked or even acknowledged by the public in general”.

“We are hoping that on July 24, the public will stop to think of the security officers who go about their wok quietly and diligently and stop and shake their hands and just say ‘thank you for  working so hard to keep us all safe.”

Founded in 1996, Manguard Plus is the largest privately owned Irish security company in Ireland. with 1,200 employees and offices in Naas, Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Derry and Belfast. It numbers Aer Lingus, Dublin Port Company, DSV and Virgin Media amongst its clients.
