Horror Dublin stabbing at Parnell Square today – three children and two adults injured

Parnell Square stabbing incident

Three children and two adults are being treated for injuries in Dublin hospitals following a serious incident earlier this afternoon at Parnell Square, in Dublins City centre.

At least one of the young children, a girl (5) is believed to have sustained serious injuries. 

Gardaí attended a reported incident which occurred on Parnell Square East, shortly after 1.30pm this afternoon.

A witness described seeing a man across the road who appeared to be holding a weapon, possibly a knife, and saw ‘a stabbing motion’. The woman and another American lady ran across to the area, where two children appeared to be stabbed along with one of the leaders or teachers.

Witnesses surrounded the man until Dublin Fire Brigade and gardaí arrived. Five casualties have been taken to various hospitals in the Dublin Region including an adult femalen an adult male, and three young children.

One young girl, has sustained serious injuries, the other two children are being treated for less serious injuries.

An Garda Síochána is in contact with parents of all three injured children. The female adult injured with the children, believed to be a creche teacher, is being treated for serious injuries and the adult male for less serious injuries.

The scene remained sealed off for some hours. An Garda Síochána is following a definite line of inquiry, and is not looking for any other person at this time.
