The Finglas community is encouraging everyone to get behind World Sepsis Day, which will be celebrated on September 13 next and dedicated to the memory of young rapper, the late Sean Hughes, writes Rose Barrett.

A well known rapper as ‘Lil Red’, they youngster was on 15 when he appeared to be recovering from a chest infection/flu like virus. Tragically, Sean fell unconscious and despite the best efforts of his family, and the emergency paramedics, he later died in Temple Street Hospital.

It was confirmed that Sean had died from undetected sepsis; since then the family ignited a health awareness campaign, with full cover Lil Red posters covering Dublin buses, along with the symptoms of the dreaded disease.

“Know the signs and save a life” – pleads the campaign, “Sepsis – Spot It – Treat It – Beat It!” Remembering the late Sean Hughes on Sunday next in conjunction with World Sepsis Day.
