Denise Griffin from Finglas in Dublin has been crowned Right at Home’s 2023 Carer of the Year. Denise received the award at a special ceremony in Meath’s Dunboyne Castle Hotel on Friday last, November 10, writes Rose Barrett.

Denise was one of six regional finalists in the running for the Right at Home national Carer of the Year award. Nominations were sent in by clients, client families, their colleagues, managers, and supervisors who witnessed first-hand the contribution carers make to the lives of those they care for. The judges observed Denise’s kindness and professionalism in her role as well as her passion for making a positive impact on her clients’ lives.

Speaking about her Carer of the Year award, Denise Griffin said, I am so honoured to receive this award tonight and couldn’t have done it without the fantastic team behind me at Right at Home, Dublin. As Carers, it is so much more than a job, we build close friendships with our clients who all face different challenges and have placed their trust in us to care for them, however much support they need. I would like to say a special thanks to Edel Robinson, Regional Client Service Manager of Right at Home North Dublin for her continued support and to my colleagues for making the past ten years so enjoyable.”

In recognition of the wider care team, a number of additional awards were also announced on the day, among them the Outstanding Achievement Award, which went to Edel Robinson from Dublin. Providers of home care and assistance for seniors and adults, Right at Home’s 2023 Carer of the Year Awards celebrate and recognise the outstanding work and commitment of care staff who enable individuals to continue to live independently in the comfort of their own home.

Speaking at the event, David McKone, MD of Right at Home Ireland said: “Carers hold a vital position in our society, and at times, their contributions can slip under the radar. This is why we introduced the Carer of the Year Awards in 2020 – to recognize and honour the exceptional efforts and unwavering commitment of our Right at Home Carers.

“I would like to congratulate all nominees and winners today who exemplify these attributes and we are very proud of all they have achieved,” she concluded.
