New To Triathlon Training Programme’ launches today!

Fingal Triathlon Club has sent out the call to all super fit enthusiasts and will launch an eight week ‘New To Triathlon Training Programme’.

This will encourage and appeal to people of all ages and abilities to give the sport of triathlon or duathlon a go.

Triathlon is a three-sport event comprising swimming, cycling and running, in that order; duathlon is running and biking and participants can opt to train for different distances.

To run over eight weeks, the programme commences on Monday, September 20 but participants can take up the programme at any time.

It is aimed at people who are curious to try a triathlon, would like to get fitter and those who may have started swimming, cycling or running during the pandemic restrictions.

Speaking about the new training programme, Fingal Triathlon Chairperson Bernie McNally said “There are many people who would love to give triathlon a go but feel it’s for everyone else and not them.  

“Triathlon is for everyone and we want to encourage interested persons to commit to the eight week training programme. We will nurture them through it – it’s a great way to get fit, meet new people and to challenge yourself while having great fun outdoors.”

Training will be held at various locations around the Fingal area with different sessions throughout the eight-week programme comprising weekly coached training sessions, strength and conditioning, cycling, swimming and track running.  

Cost is €20 for the eight-week programme and additional fees may apply if swimming pool sessions are included.

“You don’t need any fancy equipment for the training sessions, just runners, swimming togs, goggles, a bike and we’ll help you with the rest.  The motivation of club members is infectious and we can guarantee those who try it will be hooked,” McNally added.

Fingal Triathlon Club was set up in 2009 by a group of highly motivated Fingallians who wanted to get fit, have some variety in their training and meet like-minded people.  It caters for men, women and juniors of all ages and abilities.
