Fingal County Council reminds voters to ensure they can vote on March 8!

Fingal County Council would like to draw your attention to the following information with regard to voting in the upcoming referendums.

The referendums on the proposals contained in the Thirty-ninth Amendment of the Constitution (The Family) Bill 2023 and the Fortieth Amendment of the Constitution (Care) Bill 2023 will be held on 8th March 2024.  

If you are eligible to vote and not on the register of electors, you must apply on or before Tuesday 20 February 2024.     It is now your responsibility to ensure that you’re registered to vote. New Registration

To be eligible to vote in a Referendum: (a) You must be 18 years of age on or before Friday, 8th March 2024. (b) You must be living full time at the address at which you wish to be registered. (c) You must have Irish citizenship.

How to apply: On-line on or   Hard copy forms (ERF1) are available from Fingal County Council at County Hall, Main Street, Swords & Civic Offices, Grove Road, Blanchardstown. Copies also available to download at or  If you applied to have your address within Fingal changed after Monday, 22, January  the change of address will not come into effect until after Friday, 8 March next.

Therefore, you must vote from your old address for the forthcoming Referendums. Postal Vote Won’t be able to make it to the Polling Station on Polling Day?

If due to illness or disability or work/service or study reasons you are prevented from attending a polling station on polling day, you may be entitled to vote by post. If you have had an illness/disability postal vote in the last general election in 2020, there is no need to re-apply.
