Following an update request from Cllr David Healy (GP), Fingal Co Co has confirmed progress on the new greenway across Broadmeadow Estuary, to be called the Broadmeadow Way, writes Rose Barrett.

Fingal Co Co stated significant work and planning has been ongoing, including the completion of a topographical survey of the area, as has a ground investigation contract along the railway causeway between Bissets Strand and Kilcrea.  Also completed is the ecology walkover survey with advance works contract for site clearance and fencing of the CPO lands scheduled during October. Details of the main estuary bridge are also expected to be submitted by end of October.

Negotiations with various utility companies are ongoing, as are engagement with landowners affected by CPOs for the project plus an application for a foreshore license and lease from the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government has been lodged. Fingal Co Co have recieved detailed drawings from RPS re the Kilcrea to Newbridge House route, along with the proposed route from Malahide Demense to Bissets Strand due shortly.

Significant challenges remain regarding the northern causeway.  While Fingal Co Co met with the DART+ Coastal North team, further meetings are required.
