Happy Father’s Day to all ye Gazette dads and grandfathers!

It’s Father’s Day today, so a big Happy Father’s Day to all ye good dads, stepdads, grandfathers, godfathers and any of ye who provide the second ‘Daddy’ support within your family.

We remember too so many beloved fathers and granddads who’ve passed on, gone to the next world but never forgotten and we think of dads and grandfathers who may not be able to be with their families today, owing to living abroad or work commitments.

The first Father’s Day that we know of, was celebrated in June, 1910, in Washington, US. It wasn’t until 1972 (58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day an official day of celebration) that Father’s Day followed suit and is now an international day across the world to honour the important men in our lives.

From the Dublin Gazette team, hope ye are all spoilt rotten today, or at least told how much your are loved.
