Last weekend saw Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns meet with a group of concerned north Dublin residents, residents who fear their beachview homes may well disappear into the sea as coastal erosion continues..

Accompanied by local Cllr Paul Mulville, the SD leader was also joined by Sinead Gibney, the party’s European Elections candidate in Dublin. Together, the group witnessed first-hand the devastation caused by ongoing coastal erosion in the area.

A meeting took place on Portrane Beach, where erosion has caused extensive damage to the dunes system and is posing a serious threat to several homes in the area.

Cllr Mulville, who is a candidate in the Rush-Lusk LEA elections, has campaigned and highlighted on the erosion in the past.
