A man has been arrested and charged with a car jacking incident in East Wall on Monday.
The man, who is in his 40s, will appear before Dublin District Court this morning in relation to the incident.
A woman in her 40s was approached at the forecourt of a garage in East Wall at 10:30am on Monday, January 4. It is understood that the male threatened the woman at knife point before demanding her car keys and driving off in the vehicle.
Gardai then intercepted the car on the N3 shortly after in a containment operation involving local Gardai, the Armed Support Unit and Roads Policing Units.
In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: “The occupant of the car, a man in his 40s, was arrested and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
“He has since is expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court this morning, January 5, charged in connection with the case.”
Investigations are continuing.
