Planning permission has been given for 107 apartments on the grounds of Dundrum Town Centre, near to the Sandyford Road.
Permission was granted for the project by An Bord Pleanala through the Strategic Housing Development process, and will see roughly eight floors of housing built, with a ground floor co-working space and more.
Hammerson, on behalf of the Dundrum Partnership, applied for the permission. This will mark the groups first foray into residential development in Ireland, and is part of their ‘City Quarters’ concept, which creates mixed-use neighbourhoods surrounding existing flagship destinations.
Within the new development will be one studio apartment, 50 one-bedroom apartments and 56 two-bedroom apartments, which will be managed on a long-term rental basis.

The scheme is also expected to provide dedicated on-site amenities for residents including a gym, a cinema room and a lounge and terrace.
Simon Betty, Hammerson Ireland Director, said: “Our City Quarters concept will see Hammerson transform our city venues beyond pure retail into successful neighbourhoods providing homes, workspaces, hotels and accessible public realm. We welcome An Bord Pleanála’s positive decision on Dundrum.
“Our first City Quarters scheme in Ireland will create vibrant and sustainable residences adjacent to our flagship destination with easy access to a range of public transport services and large employment hubs. A high-quality design, based on best-practice in architectural sustainability, will set the benchmark for future developments in Dublin Central, Dundrum and Swords.”
Construction on the development is expected to begin in 2020.
